Jan. 17th, 2006 05:52 pmMethodology seminar wasn't too bad, and the tutor seems nice, but I fell asleep in my Politics lecture! Not even sure I can blame it all on the cold air they had blowing out of the conditioning system, given I was in the same room for my Economics lecture an hour later and I managed to stay wide awake in that one.
Didn't miss much though, as he was just going over our Politics online Blackboard thing.
Desperately need to get a veggie cookbook, because I don't know how to make quick things with my vegetables, and I don't want to cook all the time - so I ended up eating a chocolate mousse and an apple for dinner. Think I'll cook something after kickboxing, given everyone else is going to Toffs but I think I'll feel too icky, and I have to do some laundry as well.
I want to enter something for the Langwith Scott awards, but I'm thinking it'd have to be a picture of some kind - and not only do I not have my art supplies here, but I'm not good at drawing on command.
May have to buy a sketchpad and some pencils anyway, just to give it a go. There's three monetary prizes up for grabs, and while I likely won't win any, I definitely won't if I don't even try for them.
The thing with winning by doing a pic/painting, is that it has to be something that's not only technically good, but also has some kind of message hidden in it.
I'm thinking of something kinda whimsical so far.
A girl working at her desk, looking very dedicated, with some empty/full bottles of wine at her feet. To protray the stereotypical image of a student. And I was also thinking I could mix the style I was painting in over xmas with my normal sketching method, and have the woman as kind of olde-worlde, contrasting with a thoroughly modern laptop and, of course, the wine.
Personally I love the idea, but whether or not I actually get around to drawing it is a different matter. And I'd need a model for the woman, laptop, and bottles...
