Okay, so my dad came - turned out he got caught for speeding on the motorway (over 100), and is now worried he might lose his license; if he loses his license he'll likely lose his job as well. Not good!
Miraculously he wasn't in a bad mood over it - thank god.
We managed to look round four houses today.
One was a bit too expensive, but still a possibility.
One was a flat out "no", purely because too much work needed to be done to it.
One was another flat out "no", because it was right next to phone masts, and other bad-for-you-rays-giving-off-of-pole-things, which could've given us cancer and made us die (bit melodramatic, but you get the point).
One was a practically-perfect "yes". Ready to move in, perfect size for our number of people, good location, alright price, blah blah blah.
Only slight flaw to it was that the parking out front was very limited, but it would've been doable. And also to get to the back garden (only garden bit) you'd have to walk through what was soon-to-be the fourth bedroom.
So we've put an offer in, slightly lower than the asking price, and we're hopeful we'll get it.
If we don't then dad has orders to get the house which we almost got before, but then didn't because they refused to go down on the price.
Dad left that one by putting a lower offer in, and just saying it was up to them to take it or leave it. Three out of four of the owners have said "yes", and their lawyers say that's enough, so it's basically ours for the taking if we want it. Problem is this one needs a lot of work doing to it (a gut and do-over one), is more expensive, and also the fact it hasn't had many offers before ours means it might be hard to sell it on again after uni.
So hopefully we'll get this one instead, and then it'll be sorted. Not holding my breath just yet though - need oxygen in order for my brain to work, and for me to do essays properly.
Anyway, we had greasy fish and chips in the car for lunch (part of my desensitising-myself-to-fish plan), then dad took me to sainsbury's and I stocked up on food using his credit card.^^ Nice parent!
Got back here, he left to pick up my sister and take her home with him, then sat down and did work for a few hours while eating ryvita biscuit/cracker/things with dairylea spready cheese triangles. Yummy!
Chatted to Katri-o-na on MSN - still chatting - which is nice, and makes me feel more sociable than I actually am.
Got email from Politics group about our presentation (the one which counts to our mark), and hurriedly did the prep for our meet on monday (they're worried about it - actually checking it in advance, and asking to meet in person to discuss it! *gasp* Shock! Horror!).
Was doing my politics essay, but I think I'll abandon that for now, and do that tomorrow instead (as well as Methodology practice questions).
Ugh! Hate work, and being efficient, and stuff...gonna go now! Bye! :p
